ABOUT VIDALIA AREA Vidalia is the parish seat of Concordia Parish, Louisiana.
It is directly across the Mississippi River from Natchez, Mississippi,
the oldest city on the Mississippi. Vidalia is the home of the
Jim Bowie Festival, and Concordia Parish is the home of a busy
river port, as well as significant agricultural, hydroelectric
power, mineral extraction, and outdoor recreational activities.
In fact, geographic location is one of the primary assets of
the Vidalia-Natchez area. Vidalia is located within 100 miles
of Monroe, Alexandria and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as well as
Jackson, Vicksburg, and Natchez Mississippi, and the federal
courts located in those cities. Natchez and Vidalia share many
cultural and recreational events, including historic homes pilgrimages,
balloon and biking races and festivals, Christmas and Mardi Gras
events.
